Shopping At MG Marg On Sikkim Tour Is A Must

M.G Marg, also known as Mahatma Gandhi Road  is the main market area of Gangtok that is popular with tourists.

It's more like an extension of open shopping center or lane square where local people and visitors take leisurely strolls or simply sit and unwind on one of the numerous seats laid along the center and both sides of the street to absorb the vibe.

The atmosphere out there is like a carnival. At MG Marg in December, The annual Gangtok Food and Culture Festival is held.

While on this road, there are numerous restaurants and bars. Some well-known ones include the Baker’s Cafe (great for coffee, pastries, patties, momos & other snack items), located on a narrow alley off MG Road, The Roll House, Parivar – a pure veg restaurant, PUB25 – a popular pub and the like.

The road is lined with shops selling dress materials, jewelry, souvenirs, trinkets etc. A unique thing to buy here is typical Sikkimese cups that come with lids and are made of porcelain. You could also buy books on Buddhism and Buddhist artifacts.

This place is must visit place in gangtok without visit tour is incomplete.

Note : The whole area is smoke-free, litter-free, and devoid of vehicles. For approximately 1 kilometre stretch of the road, vehicles are not allowed as it’s a pedestrian-only zone
