Best time to visit in Switzerland

Peak Season: June to August

• Weather: Warm and pleasant with temperatures between 18-28°C in cities and valleys. Mountain peaks stay cooler around 10-15°C. Clear blue skies most days with excellent visibility. Very little rain compared to the spring months. Sunrise is around 5:30 AM and sunset after 9 PM in June, giving you long daylight hours for sightseeing.
• Travel Conditions: This aligns perfectly with Indian school summer holidays. All mountain passes, boat rides on lakes, and panoramic trains are running on full schedules. All cable cars operate daily without breaks. This is the best season to visit Switzerland if you love hiking and paragliding. 
• Best Places to Visit: Interlaken, Lucerne, Zermatt, Lake Geneva, the Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald and Wengen villages.
• Crowd Levels: Very High. Expect busy trains and higher prices for hotels. Trains and cable cars need advance booking. Hotels get fully booked, so you need to reserve 2 to 3 months in advance. The Indian wedding season in May - June also brings many honeymoon couples to Switzerland.

• Weather: Mixed - chilly, some rain, low snow in cities, more snow in the mountains. November is often rainy and foggy. March is the end of winter, so the snow is melting in the cities, turning into slush. Daylight hours become much shorter compared to summer, giving less time for activities.
• Travel Conditions: This is the cheapest time to fly. However, many scenic trains and mountain cable cars are closed for maintenance. Cities stay active, but mountains may have limited access.
• Best Places to Visit: Zurich, Geneva, Lucerne, and Bern. Museums and indoor attractions.
• Crowd Levels: Low, with quieter streets and shorter queues. November stays especially quiet with hardly any visitors, making it almost empty. March sees moderate crowds as ski season ends and some early spring tourists arrive.
• Things to Note: Good for saving on hotels; not the best time to travel to Switzerland if your main aim is all mountain viewpoints. Always check the official websites of specific attractions before booking any November or April trips. Days are short. It gets dark by 5:00 PM, giving you less time for outdoor activities. In Switzerland, mountain cable cars close for 2 to 3 weeks to prepare for the next season. Autumn Maintenance: Usually early November to early December.
