One of the most popular craft of Orissa is the Pipli applique technique work that comes from the town of Pipli. Pipli is small town, situated about 40kilometers from Puri, Orissa. In the old days, Pipli craftsmen used to make canopies, banners, umbrellas and trasa (fans) for festivals held in Puri's famous temple. But as the craft's popularity spread far and wide through the pilgrims of Puri, the craftsmen started making other decorative and utility items also. The use of all these products are associated with the religious ceremonies of Lord Jagannath. So it can be concluded that this art form ascribes its origin to the Jagannath cult. Patronized by kings and nobility of Orissa, applique work at one time had reached the artistic heights of excellence.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The kings of Puri engaged craftsmen in the service of Lord Jagannath and set up village Pipli for them to live in. They were especially skilled in designing the canvas cloth that is used to cover the chariots of Lord Jaganath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. The income of this state is mainly depended on the sale of its handicrafts.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Applique is a French technique that basically cuts up various coloured fabrics which are then sewn to the surface of another foundation fabric. But essentially it has now developed into a needlework technique in which smaller pieces of fabric materials like small mirrors and other forms of embroidery are sewn onto a bigger piece of the cloth to create.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Appliqué is art, a process of cutting coloured cloth into shapes of animals, birds, flowers leaves gods, goddesses and other decorative motifs and stitching them on a piece of cloth. On one hand, the village showcases the intense involvement of the men, and especially the women, in the applique production. Machine stitching has also caught up with the artisans of this town which is a proud achievement for these workers. But the people of this town are mostly proud of their handcrafted achievements because that is the purest way of keeping their art heritage alive.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The traditional appliqué items are mainly used during processions of the deities in their various ritual outings. Items like umbrella, Tarrasa – a heart-shaped wooden piece covered by appliqué cloth and supported by a long wooden pole and Chandua – an umbrella shaped canopy are usually seen during the processions. Another popular item is a sort of frill which is used as a border to canopies and also independently as a decorative piece.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">In modern pipli applique work motifs used consist of stylized representations of flora and fauna as well as a few mythical figures. Of the more common of these motifs are the elephant, parrot, peacock, ducks, creepers, trees, flowers like lotus, jasmine, half-moon, the Sun and Rahu (a mythical demon who devours the sun).</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Flat design are first cut from cloth and then superposed on the base cloth in a predetermined layout and sequence. The edges of the motifs are turned in and skillfully stitched onto the base cloth or stitched by embroidery or without turning as necessary. Craftsmen use straight stitch, blind stitch, satin stitch or buttonhole stitch for attaching the pieces of cloth.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Artisan sulochana who is 75 years old is involved in Pipli applique work from her childhood and she is currently working under Pipli applique society. There are 55 people who are working under the Pipli applique society. Embroidery work is mostly done by women and cutting works by men. These applique work are used in the flags of Jagannath temple, and during the rathjathra festival. Sometimes orders will be given by the companies to make a pipli applique work with their logo.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">She works on both hand and machine. They earn more profit in machine work. Whereas the hand embroidery work are more time consuming and less profit. All the materials required for the embroidery work such as needle, threads, mirrors etc will be provided to craftsman by the organization by whom they get regular embroidery works. These pipli applique work is done on the different types of fabrics such as cotton, velvet, organdy and satin.</div></div>

The temple facing east, consists of a sanctum (deul) and a porch (Jagamohana) standing over a raised platform, façade of which is relieved with ornamentation. The superstructures of the sanctum and porch are missing. The interior of the porch is notable for their sculptural treatment while the sanctum is devoid of any deity. <p style="text-align: justify; ">The Lingaraj Temple is an ancient shrine situated in the city of Bhuwaneshwar. Dedicated to Lord Shiva as the name suggests, the temple was built sometime in the 7th century by the King Jajati Keshari.Chandan Yatra or Sandalwood ceremony is another one of the main festivals of Lingaraj Temple.</p><p style="text-align: justify; "><br></p><p style="text-align: justify; ">Lingaraja Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva and is one of the oldest temples in Bhubaneswar, the capital of the Indian state of Odisha, India. The temple is the most prominent landmark of Bhubaneswar city and one of the major tourist attractions of the state.</p><p style="text-align: justify; "><br></p><p style="text-align: justify; ">The temple in its present form dates back to the last decade of the eleventh century. There is evidence that part of the temple was built during the sixth century CE as mentioned in some of the seventh century Sanskrit texts. Fergusson believes that the temple might have been initiated by Lalat Indu Keshari who reigned from 615 to 657 CE. The Assembly hall (jagamohana), sanctum and temple tower were built during the eleventh century, while the Hall of offering (bhoga-mandapa) was built during the twelfth century. The natamandira was built by the wife of Salini between 1099 and 1104 CE. By the time the Lingaraja temple was completely constructed, the Jagannath (form of Vishnu) sect had been growing in the region, which historians believe, is evidenced by the co-existence of Vishnu and Shiva worship at the temple. The kings of Ganga dynasty were ardent followers of Vaishnavism, [shaivism] and [shaktism] and built the Jagannath Temple at Puri in the 12th century.</p><p style="text-align: justify; "><br></p><p style="text-align: justify; ">As per some accounts, the temple is believed to have been built by the Somavanshi king Yayati I (1025-1040), during the 11th century CE. Jajati Keshari shifted his capital from Jajpur to Bhubaneswar which was referred to as Ekamra Kshetra in the Brahma Purana, an ancient scripture. One of the Somavamsi queens donated a village to the temple and the Brahmins attached to the temple received generous grants. An inscription from the Saka year 1094 (1172 CE) indicates gifts of gold coins to the temple by Rajaraja II. Another inscription of Narasimha I from the 11th century indicates offer of beetel leaves as tambula to the presiding deity. Other stone inscriptions in the temple indicate royal grants from Chodaganga to the nearby village people.</p><p style="text-align: justify; "><br></p><p style="text-align: justify; ">K.C. Panigrahi mentions that Yayti I had no time to build the temple and it should have been initiated by his sons Ananta Kesari and Udyota Kesari (believed to be other names of Yayati II as well). It is evident from the&nbsp; &nbsp;Special Rock&nbsp; Edit of&nbsp; Ashoka found at Samapa ( modern Jaugada) ,&nbsp; the capital of Southern&nbsp; Kalinga of Ashokan&nbsp; Empire ,&nbsp; at&nbsp; a&nbsp; mere distance&nbsp; of 4 Kms.&nbsp; from Tara-Tarini Hill.&nbsp; Though the&nbsp; Special&nbsp; Rock&nbsp; Edit of&nbsp; Ashoka at&nbsp; Jaugada has nothing&nbsp; to do&nbsp; &nbsp;with&nbsp; Buddhism&nbsp; as&nbsp; it&nbsp; especially addressed&nbsp; his&nbsp; &nbsp; officials , the&nbsp; propagation&nbsp; &nbsp;of Buddhism in and around this capital city of&nbsp; Ashoka can&nbsp; not&nbsp; be ruled&nbsp; out .Hence , the probability of worship&nbsp; of&nbsp; Tara , the&nbsp; &nbsp;primordial&nbsp; deity&nbsp; of the Mahayana Buddhist&nbsp; sect&nbsp; at&nbsp; Tara-Tarini&nbsp; Hill&nbsp; and Tara-Tarini as&nbsp; a&nbsp; famous&nbsp; &nbsp;Buddhist&nbsp; Tantra&nbsp; Pitha since&nbsp; this&nbsp; time, can be established on the&nbsp; basis of this&nbsp; hypothesis. Moreover till date it has been considered as one&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; most&nbsp; important&nbsp; Tantra Pitha. Interesting&nbsp; a small image of&nbsp; of&nbsp; Buddha in its meditating&nbsp; sitting posture, present inside the sanctum&nbsp; sanctorum&nbsp; of the main&nbsp; temple&nbsp; corborates the&nbsp; claim&nbsp; of&nbsp; this site to the ancient&nbsp; centre of Shakta cult.</div><div><br></div><div>Besides the worship of Tara by the Buddhist Tantrikas the&nbsp; maritime&nbsp; history&nbsp; of&nbsp; Kalinga&nbsp; also suggest&nbsp; the&nbsp; worship&nbsp; of&nbsp; Tara&nbsp; by&nbsp; the&nbsp; Sadhavas, merchants and sea-men before&nbsp; launching&nbsp; their&nbsp; sea voyage. Once upon a&nbsp; time&nbsp; river&nbsp; &nbsp;Rushikulya&nbsp; &nbsp;was conducive to navigation and probably the worship of Tara has been a practice among&nbsp; the people of&nbsp; this region&nbsp; involved in&nbsp; &nbsp;mari-time&nbsp; &nbsp;activities . Even some&nbsp; &nbsp;ruins&nbsp; of&nbsp; a brick&nbsp; foundation&nbsp; &nbsp;at&nbsp; village Mukundapur on the south bank of river Rushiklya&nbsp; at the bottom of Tara-Tarini Hill and&nbsp; the&nbsp; so&nbsp; called Ganda ( deep river )&nbsp; adjacent to&nbsp; this&nbsp; points&nbsp; to some flourishing maritime activities in this region through river Rushikulya. Hence , on&nbsp; the&nbsp; basis of these&nbsp; &nbsp;evidences&nbsp; the&nbsp; &nbsp;worship&nbsp; &nbsp;of&nbsp; &nbsp;Shakti&nbsp; &nbsp;at Tara-Tarini can be traced back to a very old age.</div><div><br></div><div>There are many interesting stories, myths legends and folklore relating to the origin of&nbsp; the Tara-Tarini Shrine&nbsp; at&nbsp; the&nbsp; hill&nbsp; top.&nbsp; One of the legends&nbsp; of the&nbsp; puranic&nbsp; tradition&nbsp; connects&nbsp; the Shrine to&nbsp; the&nbsp; Daksha Yagyan from which the famous Shakta Pitha of&nbsp; &nbsp;Tara-Tarini&nbsp; originated&nbsp; from the limbs of&nbsp; the Corpse of&nbsp; Devi or Sati. According to this&nbsp; legend once Daksha&nbsp; Prajapati&nbsp; the&nbsp; father of Goddes&nbsp; Devi&nbsp; or&nbsp; Sati&nbsp; performed a Yagyan to which he&nbsp; deliberately&nbsp; did&nbsp; not invite his&nbsp; daughter and her husband&nbsp; Lord Siva . When&nbsp; Devi&nbsp; knew this from Narada she&nbsp; took the permission of her&nbsp; husband and came&nbsp; to&nbsp; the&nbsp; Yangyan&nbsp; site&nbsp; to&nbsp; enquire&nbsp; why her father did not invite her husband Lord Siva to&nbsp; the Yogyan. Daksha spoke&nbsp; insulting words to Lord&nbsp; Siva which were not tolerable&nbsp; to Sati. As a&nbsp; &nbsp;result of this&nbsp; she&nbsp; jumped&nbsp; &nbsp;into&nbsp; &nbsp;the&nbsp; &nbsp;Yagyan&nbsp; Kunda&nbsp; and sacrificed&nbsp; her life. When Lord Siva&nbsp; knew&nbsp; this he became very angry and taking&nbsp; the dead body of Sati he started&nbsp; tandaba nrutya which&nbsp; could have caused Mahapralaya ( vast destruction).&nbsp; On the request of the Devatas,&nbsp; Lord Brahma, Vishnu and&nbsp; Sani entered the corpse of Sati and&nbsp; disposed it&nbsp; part&nbsp; by part. Consequently Shakta Pithas originated on the places where the&nbsp; organs&nbsp; of&nbsp; Sati&nbsp; had fallen. It is said that the breasts&nbsp; of Sati fell at the Kumari Hills on the&nbsp; bank&nbsp; of river&nbsp; Rushikulya&nbsp; and&nbsp; thus&nbsp; &nbsp;the famous&nbsp; Tara Tarini&nbsp; Shakta&nbsp; Pitha&nbsp; arose&nbsp; at&nbsp; this place.</div><div><br></div><div>Some other&nbsp; legends&nbsp; also&nbsp; associate&nbsp; &nbsp; Tara Tarini to their human forms as two&nbsp; beautiful girls who used to&nbsp; live some times with their devotees ( who&nbsp; later&nbsp; became&nbsp; their&nbsp; priests )&nbsp; they&nbsp; caused miracles to&nbsp; make the devotees&nbsp; feel their presence and take steps for their worship.One of such legend reveal that Vasu Praharaja , a learned&nbsp; &nbsp;Brahmin of Kharida Vira Jagannathpur Sasan near&nbsp; Purushotampur had&nbsp; the opportunity to be the foster father of the two sisters Tara-Tarini who in due course&nbsp; of time&nbsp; by the divine order of Tara-Tarini did&nbsp; the needful to perform&nbsp; Yagyan&nbsp; and&nbsp; established&nbsp; the Shrine at the hill top in a temple for daily worship.</div><div><br></div><div>From all&nbsp; these&nbsp; &nbsp;historical&nbsp; evidences and fragment of various legends&nbsp; it&nbsp; can&nbsp; be&nbsp; concluded that Tara-Tarini is one of the ancient most&nbsp; Shakta Pitha of Orissa.</div>

<div>Not a single time we had to wait for anything, though the full trip has been shared by three different suppliers, all have performed the best work. Not a single minute waiting for a driver. They are always 10 minutes early then the scheduled time.</div>
<div>Talking about driver cum guides they always behaved as if we are their friends or relatives, they haven't looked at itinerary or timing. Just tried to provide best to the extend they can. Even small-small things has been taken care by them. Even purchasing of local sim, water, food etc was been taken care very nicely. All the guides are well experienced and they really know their work and duty. All of them posses a good amount of knowledge of their particular area. And the best part what we noticed is they are always updated and most of the time we saw them reading books to improve their services. April (Joburg) was reading the book of History, Chrish (Kruger) was reading nooks of wild life, Pierre (Garden rout) himself is a professor and always keep on enhancing his knowledge. I have always saw them passionate to give us best service and have never worked just to finish the itinerary.</div>

He always had information for weather forecast and accordingly he planned our itinerary to cover all the attractions. <div>Hotel: Hotel was very nice and comfortable room arrangement as i got twin room which is more spacious then 2 BHK. Location is very near to little India and all Indian food items available within one KM range. I recommend this Hotel apartment for Family of Four and above.</div>
<div>Transportation: Pick up and drop timing maintained through out Tour. All drivers were cooperative and polite.&nbsp;</div>
<div>Local agent: Local agent is responsive and all vouchers and tickets were perfect.&nbsp;</div>
<div>Cruise: Cruise was fantastic, food was good and other area was impressive except there is to much rush at restaurant and mesh up for siting. Check in and boarding process is to long due to 3500 passengers. It took 5 hours to board my room and that was hectic time. I recommend minimum 3 nights cruise.</div>
<div>SENTOSA is joyful area and I have 20 admission per person which is more then enough as we can enjoy all type off rides. Enjoyed 3D/4D shows, Madam tusade museum, SEA, wings of time, sky tower, beach area, mono rail, two cable car.&nbsp;</div>
<div>Bicycle Tour: Fully enjoyed bicycle tour with guide and i am recommending this tour as on bi cycle covered most at marina bay area and it is fantastic to roam on bi cycle at this area. There was little bit confusion over location of starting point as driver dont know location and he has dropped 3 KM away but I have managed with support of <span style="font-weight: bold;">Maitri</span>. Thanks to Maitri...</div>
<div>City Tour: City tour with flyer enjoyed with experienced guide. Need more then 4 hours for city tour with flyer. Evening enjoyed flower dome, cloud forest and MBS park.&nbsp;</div>
<div>Jurong bird park was good but very short time for bird lovers. Night safari not enjoyed as nothing to see in dark nights and very limited animals available in this area and also too late. I am not recommending this tour. I thing Zoo is better then this as in day light we can see all animals clearly.</div>

Enjoyed Whole Trip To Singapore and Malaysia

<div>We have arrived back in QATAR last week from the fantastic 19days trip in UK and Europe which you and your Company organized for us. We would like to congratulate you all as everything went so well, a meticulous effort from Flamingo side.&nbsp;</div>
<div>We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation; the people, the food, the hotels and sites visited were all excellent.</div>
<div>Barring the Apartciti at Rome, we would also like to say you’re choice of Hotels was excellent at all cities and we had a comfortable stay. A special mention to all the hotels chosen for one night stay was excellent!</div>
<div>Visits to the Disney Land, Eiffel tower and Madame tussauds in UK were a great experience to my children whereas visits to Swarovski, the glass factory and in particular, all the time spent of the street shopping were delightful experiences to my wife. We did enjoy the pedaling boat ride at Edinburg and Gondola ride in Venice. And of course the highlight was Mt Titlis and Jungfrau which are truly amazing.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</div>
<div>It was so interesting to learn about the countries and their history, the guides were good, helpful and they were so punctual as well.</div>
<div>All and all it was a very composed and well-designed itinerary.</div>
<div>The quality of food in the restaurants visited and the selection of items are quite impressive and the Service offered by restaurants staff other representatives of your company both in UK and Europe was impeccable.&nbsp;</div>
<div>Last but not least, we would like to thank and wish to Mr. Michel and his wife Natasha (the Bus captains) for their great service. We wish all the best to them.</div>
<div>A special thanks to the tour Manager <span style="font-weight: bold;">Mr. Darshan</span> for his dedication, knowledge, good spirit and humour. He is the perfect guide and Tour Manager. All the credit of this tour goes to him for his excellent implantation. We have enjoyed his Masala Tea breaks and thankful to him for making the breakfast interesting by giving occasional hand otherwise was so boring breakfast.</div>
