Kalatop Khajjiar is located at the 2,500 meters above sea level an animal sanctuary at Kalatop and Khajjiar in the Chamba district and famous for trekking trails. and is known for the lush green surroundings and snow capped Himalayan peaks .The sanctuary has a beautiful terrain, typical of outer Himalayas. A long level walk from Dalhousie to Khajjiar gives us the best of panoramic vistas this wonderful place have in store for us. The flora and fauna of the region is best appreciated by walk rather than drive. The lonely path often treading into the dense woods of pines and cedars livened by the singing birds, is a trek worth taking and will remain a favourite for regular trekkers and honeymooners. Kalatop is a soft trek ex-Dalhousie, off Khajjiar Route. The is a half day trek is via thick forest and there are excellent Himalayan views on offer on a clear day. Trekking distance is 6 kms and guide cost Rs 1000 Approx.
