Each park is popular for its unique characteristics and illustrates the untouched natural picturesque beauty of United States of America. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park Situated in Tennessee and North Carolina:
The busiest park in USA receives more than nine million visitors every year. The park boosts of two visitor centers – Sugarlands Visitor’s Center and Oconaluftee Visitors’ Center which provides information on Wildlife, Geology and History of the park. The park used to be residence for indigenous people who migrated once the park was founded. Cades Cove, the valley where they resided still preserves log cabins, barns and church and self guided vehicle tours and bicycle tours offers visitors to glimpse back in time. The Park offers Hiking, Fishing and Horseback Riding facilities for the tourists as well.
Grand Canyon National Park situated in Arizona:
The Grand Canyon in this national Park is a colossal tribute to the Canyons all over the world due to its sheer size, depth and layers. The canyon is formed of colorful rocks, which at times gives an impression of being an Artist’s Palette. The Park is divided in two parts – the north rim and the south rim. The north rim is remote and less tourist activity is seen whereas the south rim is accessible for Hiking, Tour drives, Walking tours, Mule rides and Helicopter or small airplanes tours. A skywalk was constructed in 2007 over western rim and has been a major attraction for tourists since then. All in all, the Grand Canyon sight is that of magnificence and such that one must not miss!
Yellowstone National Park situated in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho:
Famous for its geothermal attractions especially “Old Faithful Geyser”, The Yellowstone National Park is one of the most visited parks of USA. The Yellowstone Lake is largest High- Elevation Lake in USA and is situated over a super volcano which is considered to be active. The park is home to grizzly bears, wolves, elk and bison. Apart from wide range of Flora and Fauna, the park caters to activities like camping, mountaineering and fishing for its visitors. It also has 9 visitor centers and museums which are responsible for maintenance of approximately 2000 historical buildings and structures. The best time to visit park would be in summer, from March to July.
Rocky Mountain National Park situated in Colorado:
The park consists of the front range of the humongous Rocky Mountains that stretches across 4800 Kms from Canada to Southwestern United States. The Park has combination of Mountain views, mountain lakes, Wildlife, wooded forests and varied climates to entice its visitors. There are various lookout points for the visitors to enjoy spectacular views of the national park. Hiking, Backpacking, Rock climbing, mountaineering, camping and Fishing are some of the interesting activities offered at the park. During winter, when snow falls cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and Telemark skiing becomes the temptation that attracts tourists to this destination. It would be fair to say, that no matter what season you decide to visit the park it will always be a unique experience.
Zion National Park situated in Utah:

It provides its visitors with a chance to stay amidst the beautiful Zion Canyon at Zion Lodge. The park is a paradise for rock climbers’ and hikers with walls like Touchstone, Spaceshot and Prodigal Son and trails like weeping rock and Angel’s landing. Guided horseback riding trips, nature walks, and evening programs are available from late March to early November. The Zion lodge consists of motel rooms, cabins, cafes, restaurants and gift shop as well. However occupancy is fast filling and advance booking is highly suggested.
Yosemite National Park situated in California:
Yosemite National Park is renowned for its granite cliffs, crystal clear water and numerous waterfalls. The park reacts to the weather conditions and pleases its viewers with different splendid sights. The park has a valley visitor centre, a museum, a lodge and a world famous Ahwahnee Hotel. Most locations in the park are accessible by vehicle. However for some lookouts, you might have to hike. Summer is best time to visit the park since it offers wonderful water activities including rafting through Yosemite Valley. All in all, the park is worth a stop by if you are passing through that region.
